Default How can I get the S2k to drift?

I was checking out the 240 forums, my buddy just got one the other day and he's telling me what it would take for him to go sideways. He just needed some suspension work and a LSD.

I know that the S2k isn't made to lose traction but the way he got his to drift was pretty easy. I can't get the S2k to drift like his did unless I was going really fast and I usually power drifted.

What do you think it would take to get our S2k's to drift? An LSD stiffer rear suspension????

240s are some of the best off the shelf drifters out there. The driveline is rock solid and an inexpensive SR20 drop gives it more than enough power. For the S, you'd need a complete rework of the drivetrain. Diff and axles, I would imagine. Also, a beefier clutch, maybe one of the applications where a puck would be useful. Really, the S with it's twitchy rearend and lightweight combined with a powerful stock engine would be a good drifter if the drivetrain could handle it.

I would suggest selling the S2000 and pick up a Nissan 240. Then spend the rest to fix it up to drift. Then practice. Unless your going to go crazy like AEM or RSR then I would leave your car alone.

Coming from a former 240SX owner w/ an SR20 myself, you can make it a very cheap project car; you could find just a chassis with no engine for $1-2k if you're lucky, buy a CA18DET for $1-1.5k and have a project drift car pumping 250-300whp for under $6k assuming you do all the labor. OR, if you live in the so-cal area my buddy is selling his 89' 240sx with a full silvia conversion, running the CA18DET with over 20lb's of boost and TONS of mods for $7.5k cash. It's a steal of a deal, I'd pick it up myself if I had the money....

The RSR car had a lot done to the suspension. they changed out the Electronic Steering system for a mazda rack, bc it did turn enough.
