My '01 has 19K on it....tranny, and diff was replaced around 1500 miles ago at Honda....I'm trying to figure out why my shifter isn't shifting like its supposed to...it feels too notchy. It hasn't grinded yet, but I notice that the shifter only gets smooth after I drive the car hard....meaning staying in Vtec mode for around 1 and a half minutes straight....I know the fluid has to warm up, but it seems to take too long to warm up....It sometimes feels better after I park the car, and I guess the heat soak helps a bit....but anyone else experience this?

 

It does take a few min. for the trans oil to warm up. I suggest you change your fluid to a synthetic brand. That should help a bit.

 

your tranny might not be fully broken in yet.
it takes me at least 10 minutes after driving to get the notchiness out.

 

I would sometimes be driving for an hour, and the notchiness is there in all the gears....sometimes, all the gears are perfectly smooth...aaaarrrgghh!! I guess its just moody. Is it possible the clutch isn't fully disengaging? Thats what it kind of feels like.....

 

I remember when mine was still new, it took more than 2,000ml to feel much improve, keep driving!

 

Is the release point close to the floor?? Try adjusting the clutch release point a little higher. It may just be the fix for you.

 

were the tranny & diff replaced with "new" or "remanufactured" parts?
