Default how come no type r ISH stuff on an s2000

I was just thinking how cool type r's are and it occurred to me that, why didn't honda do any type r stuff and an s2000 like the red lettering shift knobs and red stitching on the boots etc.. I know we could get red seats and all but why not the neat little details.
Did anyone here maybe why they didn't do that. I was thinking to maybe differentiate the s2000 as it's own cool vehicle.

Maybe its because the S2000 was the one car Honda made that didn't need to be tarted up from a standard economy appliance.

hey saki, i never thought of that. That's a really good point. I knew about the cr but it still doesn't have cool little plaques all around lol. They should of had everything in red on the CR, would look so much better.

I like to think my CR came with "gold" interior sticthing

Personally tho I probably would have liked red or blue better but meh

The CR does still get it's badge but its kept matte black, probably to give the car a little more class than flashy type-r emblems. I also heard that the reason they didnt consider this a type-r model is because they couldnt improve on the engine performance anymore than what it already came with.

I was going to say something similar. Instead of flashy badges or bight red emblems, Honda muted bagdes on the CR. The 'S2000' & 'CR' emblem are both muted in matte black. Only the Honda Badge was kept silver. The OEM rims are in a much more muted color of kaiser silver.

I'd also concur about the engine already being maxed out. I'd figure since Honda planned to make this car a limited run, there probably wasn't any budget for developing from an existing or new engine with more power to get to a "Type R" like the NSX. Plus Shigeru Uehara retired somewhere around 2008 (CR was his last project), which kinds coincides with Honda becoming less about sporty and more about being green. I think a lot of Honda's mojo left with him but that's another topic.

In Japan they have the type S but dunno what that includes. If you want a s2000 type r just get the oldest one you can find as they got older they got softer! (not slower** softer)

I may be wrong (I usually am), but I'm pretty sure the Type-S and the CR are the same exact cars. I always looked at the CR/Type-S as being the Type-R equivalent for the S2000.

For me though, I never really felt the S2000 needed a Type-R mode; I always felt it was a Type-R already, but than again I felt the same way about the NSX.
