Default How to Dispose of Old Gasoline.

So I have two gas can's in the trunk of my car ( I know that's not the safest place for them ). I have had to use them so they have a little bit of Gas still in them that I can't get into my gas tank. My question is how do I Properly get rid of both the gasoline and the gas cans. I never had to get rid of old gas or gas cans before but I don't want to do it in a way that's irresponsible i.e. burry it ( u know who you are ). What's the environmentaly sound way to do it.
Thank you.

^ Lol I live in an apartment. No need to mow lawns.
Anybody need a gas can????

I will have to take it over to kragen, although when I took my oil over there the other day the guy didn't know how to get rid of it. I'll just take it to a different kragen.

If you leave the cans out side with open tops, the gas will eventually evaporate.

+1 on the burn it, if it is viable
If not pour out the remainder of the gas in a shallow pan, let it evaporate, and just throw the gas can away. The trash processing facilities that I've seen shred and burn the trash it receives to generate power.

Well, in most places they just pile it up at the dump and then eventually cover the pile up.

As far as the fuel, if it's not too old, just pour it in your car's gas tank. If its just a tiny amount, you can always just pour it on the pavement and ignite it.

Even better, return it to its origins.

Lol if they burn it to generate power....i'm doing them a favor by throwing away pure gasoline. saves them time. lol

gas? inside of a gas can?

take it to the gas station and give it to them. especially the ones that have a small 1 or 2 car service bay. gas station is also the correct place to take ur used engine oil. but most attendants there now a days are too HS-drop-out to know that they are the authorized locations to recive old used automotive liquids.
