Default how do i get my S above 6000 rpm?

My beautiful S2000 hasn't seen 6000+ rpm yet. I got it from the dealer who drove it fow a while and drove it like granny, and i am older than him! Now I have had it longer than him mileagewise, and I almost got it to 6000, up to 5900, when it started to change the sound and, hey, I got scared.
What should I do, please help. I heard the engine needs to be "flushed out" and this is the way to do it. any tips out there?

priceless.........

Welcome to the wonderful world of VTEC. THe sound change is the engine activing secondary cam shafts to give you that "Im vin Diesel hitting a 300shot of NOS yo!"

Dont be scared, and go out and do it again!

Go ahead and keep pressing the gas. The secondary big cam is where the car changes personality and shows its performance.

Just wait until the engine is warm (around 3 bars on the temp. guage) before reving that high. There is a cold engine rev limiter at around 6000 rpm.

keep pressing the gas, you were about to go into VTEC, hence your engine is DOHC VTEC, DOHC is dual over head cam, VTEC is valve Timing and lift Electronic Control, basically your car's engine was about to use the second cam as well as the first, which is always working, to give a boost of horse power and torque...
go for it! have fun, make sure you are broken in though, over 600 miles
