In an effort to try to get my baby looking good, i put some silicone spray stuff on my dash and now it feels terrible and I can't seem to get it off. What should I be using to get the junk off?..it's so shiny and slippery, i can't stand it...HELP!!

1. Put Silicon Stuff on sttering wheel
2. Total S2K
3. Buy new

A friend did that to his Integra and we had a hell of a time getting it clean. Perhaps try Honda Spray Cleaner/Polish....I have mentioned it in other threads. You can buy a can for about 5 bucks at any Honda motorcycle dealer. It would normally make a dash more shiny....compared to new, but I think it might help get rid of that silicon crap.

Anyone else????

Some dealers stock that also and have known to charge less for it.

Have you tried isopropyl alcohol (aka rubbing alcohol)?

Do NOT use isopropyl or any other type of alcohol or alcohol based products on vinyl. They will dry out the vinyl, quickly leading to cracks. Just use a good leather/vinyl cleaner to clean the area. After that, all I do is use a swiffer cloth to clean the dash. No extra added stuff to make it shiny.

BTW, the reason that I know not to do this is, you guessed it, I did the same thing when i first got the car. HTH.

Sorry, I should have clarified: I didn't mean for you to use the alcohol and then just leave it at that. The alcohol was to get the silicone off and then immediately use a leather/vinyl protectant. But if you're not comfortable with this don't do it. I've done this and all is well because I didn't leave it at just alcohol. Sometimes, I do stuff that seems so simple and I assume the rest of the world knows. Again, sorry.

Maybe this should be a new thread, but how to get (carelessly) applied polish off the lower windscreen trim. It looks spotty with ingrained white marks that are an absolute beech to shift. Apologies to all for my crime

Don't do anything! The sheen will dissapate after a very short time and everything will be fine. Just use this as a reminder to be careful what you put on your car. If you want to use armoral use the low sheen product.
