Ok People! You only have to be smarter than the cat. Violence is not needed. Putting hot sauce in a squirt bottle is not outsmarting the little beast. It will not associate the taste in it's mouth with your car. That is just a human emotion at work to suggest such nonsense. There is also no need for harsh chemicals etc. Cats do not like citrus of any kind. Cover your car with glue boards, with a good squirt of lemon extract on each one. The cat will not like the feeling of the glueboard messing with it's fur, and will immediately associate the citrus scent with the glueboard. After it's first encounter with the glueboards, you will then only need to use citrus extract to deter the cat. Carful how you use the citrus though, as it is acid and not good for your car's finish. I would suggest just keeping a few glueboards strategically placed and freshly scented on the car after kitty's first lesson.

But what I really don't understand is why can't you just keep the garage door closed in the first place????????

I had the same problem with our damn cat laying on the warm hood of the Suburban. Since the kids wouldn't allow me to use it target shooting, I ordered a device called the "Scat Mat". You simply lay it on the vehicle, plug it in and when the cat jumps up on it----ZAP----shocks the sh*t out of it. That was 2 years ago and I haven't had a single paw print on a car since! Now that I have the S2000 I lay the Scat Mat on top of the car cover just to be sure.
Good Luck

I had the same cat problem until I installed an alarm with prox sensor (alpine 150R). Now anytime a cat jumps on the car, the alarm sounds. The only drawback is that now every cat in the neighborhood sits on my truck instead.
