Default How do I remove heatshield easily?

I was going to install my ETD but wasn't sure how to remove heatshield.
It looks like there are some bolts where i can't reach from the engine bay, is this true? if so, only way to get it out is to lift up the car and access it from the bottom?

I don't have any other jack than OEM one in the car and it's bit scary to go down there with that holding up the car.

And, another question while you guys are reading, where's the throttle body?
I'm trying to map whack and wasn't sure which sensor to pull off, i know there's photo in the under the hood section but coudln't match what is what.

I know i'm a big time noobie

Please educate me-

Thanks.

Jung,

I don't know the answer to your question, but I agree, don't go under the car with just the stock jack. Get some jack stands to lower the car onto before you even consider it. Consider a floor jack while you're at it.

If you're going to work on your car, these things are a necessity.

By the way, Jung, this is a little difficult without a diagram... The throttle body is the big piece of aluminum that you see if you follow your air box back through the plastic intake. It ends at the throttle body, and the MAP sensor is right on top there. You can't miss it in the MY02; not sure about MY05. In my car it's made by a company called Denso, and it says MAP.SENSOR on it.

You don't have to get under the car to remove the heat sheild. There are around 5 bolts holding it on. 10mm you have to feel your way around under the back on the sheild (header side) and find them. It's a PITA.

Also the bolt closest to the firewall does not have to be completely removed...just loosened. The heatshield has a slot that the bolt slides into.

same here, i got couple of good cuts on my arm after the whole ordeal was over.

10mm gear'ed wrench FTW , if you doing it with a good ole' socket, get it taped with a rubber band and wear it around your wrist, because all it wanted to do it drop down into the engine bay
