Default How do people keep the mileage down?

I just bought my first S2000 last t May. In the 10 months since, I have put 8k miles on it and I feel like I've barely even become aquainted. I live in a state with lots of twisty roads but it takes at least a 30min drive to even start to get into a good mountain route. After that its easily another hour away to get my fix and the hour plus drive back. By then I've driven at least 150 miles. Most of my weekend drives are 150-300 miles. Any less in this awesome roadster feels like a warm up. I mean yeah there are the evening grocery runs that turn into 20-30 miles in the local two lane roads but to get any kind of a driving fix I need 100 miles. My 2006 had 39k when I bought it and now its at 47k. Still low mileage but I can't believe that so many folks on here have much lower mileage cars. If I had mine since new it would at least have 60-70k minimum. And that would require restraint. I also have a main daily driver and a an old 4x4 I often use for daily duty and still 8k miles was EXTREMELY easy to rack up on the S in under a year. So how many miles a year do you put on your S and are you even trying to keep the miles down? Just curious.

thanks

Jon

I really don't. It's impossible when the car is so much fun to drive.

Die. Leave a low mileage s to someone. They sell it to go to or buy this or that. Not my plan.

I average about 5K miles a year. I'm not intentionally trying to keep it low mileage. It is stored for 6 months every year due to our winters and it shares summer duty with my VFR800. It is a driver's car! There is no shame in racking up the miles. Plus it is a Honda.

I put about 5000 miles a year on my Honda. I have a relatively new daily driver(2016 Mazda 3) that I use when the weather is bad, or if it is way too hot or cold. During the spring and fall I will take the Honda to work. At most I will probably drive the Honda 3-4 days a week.

My commute to work is about 12 miles and has some great corners. I also take about 4 trips to the dragon a year and run the car hard.

The main thing from keeping me putting more miles on the car is my size. At 6'5" the car isn't really comfortable so I try to take the car on journeys which will allow me to have some fun. Also I like the keep miles off the car because I despise buying tires, and I am hard on tires.

Unless you are on a lease, or have a priceless classic, there is no need to not drive your car.

Is the Mazda 3 a 2.5 manual? If so, how do you like it? I'd like to have one for a daily driver.

We just own a lot of different cars. So none rack up a lot of miles these days except the company car.
