How do you drive in a slow area?

Parallel park: Clutch in, rev to 8k, turn wheel, dump clutch, rotate rear into the space.

Actually, in Finland I usually would do the FWD equivalent in the snow.
1. Back the rear into the parking place right where you want it to end up
2. Pull the e-brake up to lock the rear tires
3. Lock the steering, spin the front tires
The car pivots about the rear and you slide right into the spot.
You can get into or out of a spot with inches of clearance in the front and rear. It's like magic. Plus it's good fun.
Don't recommend it without the snow and ice though...
And to the OP, it all depends on how steep the bumps are. I go over at 30 to 45 degrees over the steeper ones, even at stock ride height. Otherwise, just give the suspension time to react.
I don't get into transient weight shifts by switching gears over the bump, and I never go WOT over a bump either, so it doesn't make a bit of difference what gear I'm in if it's 1 / 2 / even 3 sometimes.
