Default How do you know when LSD is working?

The s2000 is my first RWD and the first car with a LSD. I'm still getting used to the car and the whole "beauty of RWD vehicle" and stuff.. but how do I know when LSD is working? what is it supposed to do? When the tail tucks in and that awesome oversteer is induced, is it because of RWD or LSD ??

You know your LSD is working if you're spinning both back tires at the same time (instead of just one tire, which is typically what occurs on a vehicle without a LSD). In short, the LSD keeps both tires moving at more or less the same rotational speed (within certain limits).

As for that "awesome oversteer", that is a combination of RWD (easier to do throttle-controlled oversteer in a RWD car) and the fact that you can spin both tires at the same time (due to your LSD), allowing for more control (in general).

i'm guessing that you're either too young to remember or too conservative to care. here's a hint... summer getaway tour 2003.

The car is moving. If the LSD isn't doing it's job, then you ain't going no where.

*ahem*

About the Limited Slip Differential... It's hard to describe unless you've driven a rwd car with an open diff. It's as if when you're in a corner and accelerating, there's a force in the direction you're going pushing on the outside rear of the car.

Just keep in mind that if your LSD wasn't working, your car probably wouldn't be moving at all. At least not without making some horrible grinding noises.
