Default how does car run when the a/c is on?

Hey guys i currently have an 03' miata (yea its sad im still posting on this site but hey what does that tell you about the miata), either way i plan on getting an s2k in about a month or so and just had a quick question. in my miata when the a/c is on the car runs MUCH slower, when i turn it off its like hitting the nitrous button and i was just wondering how does the s2k run with the a/c on?

'Bout the same. It's still a 4-banger.

Unless you really punch it. I can't tell the difference.

in my AP2 it is BARELLY noticeable - turning off the AC was the "turbo" in my old CRX...

Can't say I've really noticed any difference either.
I'm sure there has to be at least a little but it goes unnoticed.

It HAS to be an AP1 v AP2 difference - notice all the posts above. BUT for the purposes of the OP looking into an AP1 it seems the answer is yes - bugs down the AP1 engine significantly.

AP1 2.0L. AP2 2.2L. I think you see the diff.

Sounds good, only I've driven several AP2s as well and can tell when the ac is on just as much. I could even tell on my M3...and it has a lot more displacement and torque than either the ap1 or ap2.

The AC robs a lot of hp on any car.

sure but apparently a lot more in yours than mine - I've done timed laps on the car with the AC on (by accident) and it was not much of a difference; it's just a fact that apparently is much more noticeable in the AP1 by your own admission.
