How far forward do you like to adjust the seat
Hi. I've been experimenting with moving the driver's seat forward. Lately, I have it far forward and like the tight fit. The steering wheel falls about a quarter of the way between my knees and the tops of my thighs.
It makes the car seem much more like a go-cart, the way it's supposed to feel. With the driver's seat adjusted like this, I feel like I'm wearing the car, as opposed to merely sitting in it.
How do you like to adjust the driver's seat? Is there a general rule of thumb that should be followed or is it more a matter of personal preference?

I have mine set up that I push myself back into the seat and stretch my arms out above the steering wheel...When I set my arms down on the top of the wheel only my wrists are touching it. At the end I have enough freeplay and arms are relaxed on the wheel(I don't have to reach for it...It's just there).
You should still have a bend in your knee with the pedals pushed all the way in.
For many people, though, the more important setting is getting the right distance from the steering wheel. One typical way this is done is to sit back in the seat and hold your arms straight out against the top of the wheel. If your wrists are laying on the top of the wheel, that's about right. You should be able to comfortably turn the wheel 180 degrees in either direction (ie. cross your arms) without binding up your shoulders and elbows.
Typically, guys tend to sit with the seat too far back, and gals tend to sit with the seat too far forward.

I'm 5' 8" (but v-e-r-y long-waisted) and have the seat as far back as it goes. My position is that of what we used to call the NY State Trooper in my youth with legs and arms extended out but just slightly bent. Mike Garrison above gives a good description too with the wrists on the wheel and how it can be turned. I've been using this position for 45 years both on and off the track.... it works for me
I adjust the bottom seat position first. Making sure that my legs are not too close. Too close and your bound to slip your clutch.
Then I adjust the seat back to make sure my arms and back are in the right position.
One click on either bottom or top and I know right away my wifes adjusted the seat.
