How fast is a Supercharged S2000
Calling all supercharger owners!
So the Supercharger adds nearly 100 BHP (vortech), but what sort of difference does it make to the 0-60, or 0-100 times. More importantly, does it make much difference to the in gear times 30-70, 50-70, 60-90 which are more important in the really world.
What sort of cars have you raced that you wouldn't be able to pull away from before and now you can?
Is it worth the cost?
Would you supercharge again, given the money back.

Pulled a few car lengths on a TVR Griffith over a mile or so of freeway (we call it motorway here). Backed off at 140+ mph just after changing up to 6th (too much traffic). I felt it was good for 180mph but gurus say the theoretical limit is 169.4mph (no change in final drive). I think with 17" wheels versus 16" stock on MY00 maybe a max of 170mph is attainable??
i've driven numerous supercharged s2000's and since the turbine is run off the crank, the power is linear to engine rpm. it has the same characteristics as a n/a s2000, which means you feel the powe rush after 6k+ rpm. its not like a turbo that offers good gains from 2.5k+(depending on the turbo size, how fast it spools, etc). don't get me wrong, supercharged s2000's are fast and very fun to drive, BUT don't expect big gains at low rpm.
my cousin recently got a speedcraft turbo kit on his 01 s2000 and i personally prefer a turbochaged s2000 than anything else, but thats just me. we all know teh s2000 makes a lot less power at low rpm compared to higher rpm. the turbocharged application takes care of that problem.

Razor, I agree. The linear nature remains. You are still waiting for VTEC and then trying to hold it down on the road. In effect you have a lag (knock down a gear or two, get into VTEC). Maybe the much talked Turbo lag is better if you also can get some real extra kick below the VTEC point.
S...2000, sorry no further details. The trouble is with a modded engine you tend not to want to destroy it by stressing it. Maca who sold me the car reckoned not to VTEC in 1st/2nd to avoid stressing the gearbox and transmission with 50% more HP and torque. Testing the 100-150mph time improvement is not easy

ok here it is.
smartest move I ever made. Car eats just about anything on the street. The centrifugal nature of the sc compliments the vtec and high rpms beautifully. The handling seems unaffected. Combined with a set of 444 gears it's nothing short of amazing. Easy to maintain. All the virtues.
It's the nicest motor mod you can do to your car in my opinion.
