Not to detract from Synchromesh but I just had mine changed at the dealer during the clutch mod and it shifts like butter now. I think they put Honda TF in it. Whatever they used, it made a heck of a difference.

I had some GM Synchromesh put in when I had my clutch TSB done a few weeks ago...and I don't know if it's the new clutch or the new tranny fluid, but my S has never felt better!

My tranny was rebuilt 2 months ago and after reading all of the good things about gm's syncromech i was curious to try it !
My trans. was shifting well but going in third was very notchy ( like it used to be before rebuilt ) and after putting this fluid in the trans. everything was like it was before !! Notchyness and (mechanical feeling?) was there .....like it was before ....
This fluid never smoothen the shifting process......This fluid is not bad but it's not worst, but anyway i like my transmission like that , you really FEEL what is going on in it when you shift and i think this is a part of what Honda wanted with this car !

I understand that there are two types of GM Synchromesh Transmission Fluid. The one that you want is part number #12345349. So far you are the only that I have heard about that hasn't been helped by this fluid. Maybe there is a mechanical reason for this? It made my transmission smoother than it's ever been, took ALL of the notchiness out of it.

The Honda organizations have not shown they are very clever when it comes to this car ..how would they know what is in the transmission?

i just tried it and it feels same as fresh HONDA MTF, which is good as it is smooth. but the smoothness would rapidly go away with honda fluid, i'm hoping this "feel" stay around longer. my shifts are still notchier that new(40K miles).

btw, what would happen if u had too little tranny fluid, say down 0.5 qt, or a tad too much?

I think too little would be bad in that the pump would starve more often. A little too much is probably not a big deal since there seems to be plenty of free air space and the gears are already mostly submerged.

I stopped by my local GM Dealer today and asked for Gm Synchromesh Transmission fluid part number 12345349. They told me this was for Automatic Transmission, but they have a Synthetic Transmission fluid with a different part number and it was $20.00 a quart compared to the $9.91. They did not recommend running this fluid is a standard transmission car. Am I missing something?
