How to keep shift boot up. Search down.
Hey guys,
I don't think the search will ever work again. Can someone link me to the thread where some use a garden hose seal washer to hold up the shift boot.
Thanks

I don't have the post. But here is a rough idea of how to do it:
1. Remove shift knob
2. Yank the center console up with your bare hands (shouldn't need to unplug the wires underneath)
3. Slip the garden hose water seal ring into the shifter
4. Put the console and then shift back into place ...

why?
i tried to give my manual IS that same look where the shift neck was exposed and you want to get rid of it. i think it looks better with it down but to each his own.

KS320, I tried that, but on a '06 it looks like the boot opening is bigger. The boot just falls below the washer. I'm going to try the zip tie.
I actually haven't done the mod on my car ... hehe ... i dun really mind that gap too much, since the bag hasn't sagged yet. I only saw my friend doing it before

Yeah, I wish the boot didn't sag already. I guess since I conditioned it with Lexol and that's when it started to sag.
What I'm thinking about doing is that since the boot is folded in on the top about 2 inches, I'm going to push up about an inch of the boot up the knob.

I have one of Ricks knobs and did the garden hose washer thing......no boot sag. Actually i put 2 washers stays flush with the bottom on the knob. Good mod makes
it look much better.
