Default how to launch with 265/35/18 rear

I am thinking of getting these for the rear. Is there any diffent in acceleration and how do you launch the car with these stickies for good acceleration?

larger rolling diameter means:
1. speedo will be off
2. less torque to the ground, so slower accel.

larger contact patch means:
1. better grip in corners
2. higher rpm launch required to break tires loose
3. easier to break things from launching

Madame Zelda looks into her crystal ball and predicts:

You will have a harder time launching this car with these tires.
You will need to have much higher rpm for a good launch.
You will be needing a new clutch in short order.
Your transmission will begin to make funny noises.
Your differential fluid will look like crap when you drain it.
Your half shaft CV's will start to make funny noises.
Your half shaft spine teeth will be getting stressed.

Mind you, Madame Zelda is about to put on a S/C on her car so what do I know?

what size of the rim (width) will a 265/35/18 fit??

Hey Honda 9krpm,

The guys are right.
if you want to be quick off the line don't get 18's.

Get some nice ultra light 16's like the Spoon or JDM BBS.

Or some light weight 17's like the Mugens or Volks. You would be suprised how much bigger 17's look than 16's.

Agree that 18's will increase the unsprung weight and therefore have an affect on the acceleration.
Yep but even if your 18" inch tyre/rim setup is as light as or slightly lighter than stock acceleration will still suffer as the weight is distributed closer to the circumference of the tire.

Oddly enough, I had better e/t's and trap speeds with heavier but wider 18's on the rear than the lighter but skinnier spoon 16's...like about a half of second faster!!!
Same day. same track.
