Default How long do you warm up your car for?

It's around 30-40 degrees (Fahrenheit) here and I'm a DD so I'm curious as to how long you guys let your s2k idle on a cold start before you drive off in 30-40 degree weather? 70-80 degree weather? I usually leave my06 running until I see at least 3 bars on the temp gauge.

I let the folks who made the car dictate how long I warm it up for...

I always read letting a car warm up by idling was a bad idea if you're doing for more than 30 seconds.

I got in the car, buckle up, hit the start button and as soon as the engine starts up i put it in reverse out of the driveway and off i go. no need to sit in the driveway for 10 min when u can just take it easy for the first 5-10 min as you drive off

I'm with the others. It's a waste of gas and time to wait for the car to idle up to a few bars. Also, your transmission and differential are not heating up at all during this time. I start the car, buckle my seat belt, open the garage and I'm on my way. I keep it below 4k until it's at least got 3 bars or so.

I have heard and I guess it's possible that the oil pump operates more efficiently under a load. If this is true, it may be better to drive off rather than allow for a warm-up. I start my car, buckle my seat belt, select a radio station and begin driving. I live in N. Florida so temps are seldom freezing.
