Default How long does it take to do the seatbelt recall?

I dropped of my S2000 at the dealer this morning at 7:30 to have the seatbelt recall, window motor regular replaced, and diff fluid replaced. I just got off the phone with them and they said they won't have it ready today. Does all of that really take more then a day to do, or are they just taking their time getting it done.

Yeah it takes like at least half a day. It's cuz of all the body panels and seats that they have to remove. However, it shouldn't take more than a day.

usually takes 1/2 a day. honda only allots the workers 6 hrs to do it. once you get it back, if you hear some rattling coming from behind the passenger seat, it's the spare tire. they probably forgot to tighten it. hope everything goes well.

The dealership I went to told me that really don't come out on that TSB. He put two mechanics on it, one for each side, to finish it so that I could pick it up same day.

when i took mine in early in the a.m., they told me they would have it done that day...
then they called to tell me that it would take another day. they offered to pay for a rental car, but i already have too many cars- it was finished by noon the next day.
good news- everything seems to be o.k. with the car.

Let me tell you what the dealer is not, They overscheduled and no one in the dealer wants to do it, its a pain in the ass, it only takes a couple of hours. It pays 2.4 hours. It isnt that hard but the potential to fuk something up is high. I do all the s2000 services and repairs that come through our shop so ive gotten pretty good at the seat belt recalls, I can do them in an hour (and return all the bolts to their rightful homes) Basically you remove the seats, trunk lining and spare, remove the rear tray and trim, remove the roll bars, remove the seat belt retractors and install an updated lock assy. Apparently they were not locking correctly or at innapropriate times. That should about cover it, If you need to have it done a half day should cover it, a whole day would be beter to let the tech take his time. two days is just some writers screw up and the car hasnt even been worked on.

Something about the belt tensioners deforming and then the seatbelts wouldn't wind back up into the mechanism, rendering them less effective.

We should be glad their not trying to back out of paying for it to begin with. Losing the Stook for a day can be bad, but living is better.
