Default How long does it take to make an S2000?

I placed an order for 2009 BB S2k with red interior and put deposit on December 30th of 2008. It's been 10 weeks since then and I still haven't heard from the dealer, yet.
I already called them several times before and all they told me is to call back after 10 weeks.
So I called them today and the sales manager fed me the same crap.
He said that the car's still in manufacturing process and they have to wait... and still NO VIN...
So... the question is... has anyone ordered an s2000 and got it from Japan, not from the dealer lot? How long did the process take?
Shouldn't VIN already been created and available?
Getting kinda worried now...

I always heard three months from order to dealer, but that was when S2000s were being produced in large numbers. Assuming some delays for painting, I'd expect to hear about your car in the next few weeks.

But shouldn't VIN be available by now at least?
Other car makers provide VIN like a week after the order's been placed... right before the car goes into production.
or Honda doesn't make VIN until the car's manufactured?

Beats me, but I know a lot of the japanese car manufactures have cut down the number of car shipments they make. Not as many boats making the trip so you'll have to wait awhile. A lot of cars are sitting in dock storage because the dealerships have no place to put them or can't afford to buy them because of their credit situations.

There's abundance of red ink to go around, just walk the cow through any boardroom.
