[QUOTE=BD89,Jan 8 2008, 11:07 PM] I haven't checked exactly in a long a time, but I know when I traveled to Boston (a good 200 or so miles) I got there on around half a tank.

I've had my car w/ 1 bar left and then restarted minutes later only to have 2 or 3 bars. I enjoyed that, but I try to hit the 300 mark every tank to no avail. I will sack up one day and go for it.

I just got 350.4 miles, completed my week's commute on a single tank and then some. Oddly enough, it went to zero bars, then back to one bar after ~4-5mi. (normal), back to zero after a few miles, but then back to one again, then back to TWO bars showing when I filled up.

350.4 mi./10.8gal = 32.4mpg.

Yeah my car will go from zero bars to three or even four.

My commute is 33 miles, all secondary roads, with little traffic. Max speed <55, average <40. For the most part, I'm in 6th gear at 35-45mph. This particular tankful I was trying to see what it could get if I took it *really* easy (moderate acceleration, early upshifts, early off the gas coming to stop signs/traffic lights).

Almost all of my commute is stop/go city. I usually only get about 19mpg. :-(

One funny thing I've noticed is that some gas pumps cut off at different points than others. I usually fill up right after the light comes on and I get about 10.5 gallons in. Yesterday I had about 2-3 bars left and was able to squeeze in 11.1. I was expecting just under 10. It through my mileage calculations off as I know I hadn't used over 11 gallons since my last refuel.

since the S is alot newer than my 94 accord.. it can be more efficient . because i too have noticed if i drive less than 55 mph i gain mpg.. compare to going 70 mph.. hehe my accord i tried doing the same thing, less on the acceleration and creep up to 65-70 mph. compare to heavy acceleration to 75 mph.. but i noticed on the accord at lower speeds i get less mph compare to high hard driving .. lol i guess that 3k revs = 75mph = a more efficient engine
