How rare is the S2000 ? how many are made ? I read somewhere that 1500 a year are made worldwide and only 500 a year is sold in the USA and it's built alongside the the NSX, is it true ? I have a 2000 S2000 in mint condition, do I have a rare car ?

About 8,000 cars a year are built, and the 2000 S was hand built in the same plant as the NSX.

Do a search and you will find more exact numbers.

Citing North American sales numbers doesn't really address the question of how rare a 2000 S is. Worldwide production figures would paint a more accurate picture.

A simpler answer is to look at used car values... MY2000s are still depreciating. Depending on mileage they can be had for 15-18K without much fuss. When they start appreciating in value, well THEN we can start considering them 'rare.'

I appreciate my S2000 now... That may not make it rare but I still love it!

Back to the original question....

How many were produced? Not sold, but produced.

Anyone know? I have a really high serial number and a Sept. '02 manufactuing date. That has got to be close to the end of the '02 production run.....
