Default How many miles before it dies?

I've been reading a bunch of threads for the last few days -- one asking for the most miles, and a few about buying the car and discussing overall costs (maintenance, replacing a motor, etc.)

So... basically, I don't plan on driving my s2k hard, but I'll most likely be putting quite a few miles on it as time goes by. I wanna keep it until it dies.

One reason I chose an s2k was because it's a Honda... Hondas don't die. The most miles I've seen so far are an '00 with 180k or something. I thought this was appropriate for a 9 year old car, and didn't think that there were very many high-mileage s2ks right now as they're still fairly new.

But at this point, I'm sure s2ki members know: how long will an f20 or f22 motor last? I've got an '04 with 43k miles, and was debating on whether or not 13k miles would make a difference (was going to buy an 05 with 30k miles).

whats the cost difference between the two? If you want that extra piece of mind then get the 05 because you will know it has less miles. I bought my 04 with 27k miles on it and its almost at 40k miles and I feel like there is no difference between now and the time I purchased the car.

yeap. that's what I said too until I figured hey it's a honda, it revs to 9,000 RPM, and it's a sports roadster.

I know a guy in Houston that has 180k on his AP1 - 20k of which were track miles. The crank finally started to walked on him recently at like 181k, so he put a whole new motor in. Pretty decent IMO.

I'm sure people will get over 200k miles on their motors, they just need to take care of them. Each motor is going to be different, some will last 30k, others 300k.

I've put 60k (started at 19k, at 79k now) on mine in 3 years, some of it pretty hard driving (not on the track though), winters and such and it's still humming right along.

It all depends how the car was driven and maintained.
I bought a 04 with 95K miles on it, the previous owned didn't drive the car hard and it has some all seasons tires on it.
My friend bought a 05 with 15K miles on it and took it to track a few time, his car feels exactly the same to mine but he has more rattle at the top.
