Default How many miles until you can push the car?

How many miles do you need to break in before you get drive the car really hard, i.e. redlining it and WOT?

I know obviously not before the 600 mile breakin, but what about after 1000? Is it safe?

at 600 its ok to engage vtec, but i personally wouldn't redline it yet. i would wait around 1000-1500 to redline. its funny though, with almost 4400 miles on my car now, i dont think i've redlined it. i just never had the need to, car pulls great up to 8400 rpm and i rarely race.

push it by hand ... you can start at 0 mile

i start VTEC @ 750 miles and WOT @ 850-ish miles

from then on, do it all the times

I think it is widely accepted and understood that 600 miles is the break in point for our cars. As such, I regularly started practicing VTEC and WOT after that point

On the race track full out since 900 miles, now over 5000 miles and many track days....perfect.

Start having as much fun as you want at 600 miles. If it was such a problem to do that, why would Honda recommend that number? I did that and my car only burns oil if I go on a group drive and spend a good portion of the day in VTEC.

I still am trying to sort out 600 miles is OK to VTEC, but not enough to allow an oil change. ???
