How many OEM S2K's in the US?
I am pretty fortunate to travel to Europe a great deal, usually every month for the last 20 years. I have noticed a car culture difference between the US and the continent. I suppose part of the car mindset is how and where you get to park your car. For the most part, cars in Europe are parked on the street. They are usually dirty and dinged up compared to US autos. Except for a few enthusiasts, you don't see people washing, waxing, or really cleaning their cars except for the wash stations with pressure hoses some gas stations have.
Many in the USA fall in love with their cars and love to work on them. Many in Europe see cars as a utility. (Except for many Germans who do love and take care of their cars but do not mod them as much) Of course governments have worked for years to discourage auto use and promote public transportation especially in city centers. Many Europeans may have a car but it is reserved for the occasional trips in the countryside. Day to day use is not the norm or desired the way it is essential here.
When I go to stores/shopping areas and check out the auto sections I see very little compared to what the USA has to offer.
Different DNA.

+1 here!
By far most S2000s I see around here are stock, and driven by older drivers (often old ladies
). When I see the occasional modded S2k here in Marin Co., it is usually beat up, annoyingly loud and filthy. Sad.
I agree with others that we probably get a skewed perception of the number of modded S2000s by hanging around these forums.

I def think there is skewed perception due to social media because it seems like everyone's s2k is modified. However when I'm on the street most of the cars I see are stock(ish). I wonder where my car stands in this topic as it's modified with cr parts...
TX to all.
It seems pretty clear that our perception from Europe is skewed from looking at sites like this, and that a lot of Americans keep their s2k stock as well (or nearly, as I said wheels and a few other light mods was not what I was talking about in the OP).
It is however interesting to note the different perceptions:
NNY S2k said his perception is that about half remain stock.
Hidef1080 said his perception is that only 10% or less remain stock.
While the others believe that most remain stock and it's just a perception based on sites like this that gives the appearance that many are tuned / modded.
Any other opinions are welcome! TX!

As I was the 1st response my guess was in reference to your 1st post that indicated "sticktly OEM", I was thinking many have done changes like wheels, radios, and other small personal changes that would have fallen into that category.
