Default How Many Years Out Of Your OE Battery

My 04 with 11,000 milles on it was starting to turn over slower, so yesterday I went out and bought a battery tender to see if I could squeeze a couple of more years out of the oe battery. Obviously my car does do some sitting, especially in the winter. I thought the BT was a good idea. I'm just curious how long the rest of you have gotten out of the original Panasonic that came with the car.

PS - Dont Bash me for not driving the car. I have a 5 year old and a 3 year old that require alot of Dad's attention!

My '03 still has the original battery. The car sits for 6 months of winter storage every year. I use a battery tender while it is in storage. I typically get 6 years out of a battery that has been used this way. I have had batteries last as long as 9 years.

My '03 stll has original battery too. Had the car since March '03. It only has 18k on it and used to sit 6 months out of the year when I lived in NY but have been in the south for the past 3.

Wow, 9 years is a long time for a battery. A buddy of mine had a '95 Ford Explorer he just sold that was driven every day. He bought it new and and just replaced the battery last year. The original Motorcraft lasted 13 years. If I didnt know the guy, I would have thought it was total BS.

I am going through the first winter with my 2002. It came with the same battery that went into it in the plant in Tochigi. I initially made the mistake of not using a battery tender. The battery went flat after two months of sitting this season, and would not hold a charge with either jumpstarting or charging.

I therefore bought another Honda OEM battery and a battery tender, which is the way the car will spend the rest of the winter.

Lesson learned: Use a battery tender during prolonged periods of sitting.

I just changed the battery in my 2002. I've had the car for 3 years now and I *probably* could have gone longer before changing, but we had a major cold snap last month with single digit highs and the battery was not liking that at all.
Took 2-3 tries to get it to turn over and it struggled a lot.

03 born in June. 20,000 miles and has been sitting about 6 weeks w/o tender between drives for the last year. Just replaced last week.
