Take the stock intake top off that is........

I noticed a lot of member have their stock intake box's top off.

Any gains/benifit/draw back at all by doing this ???

You lose power and are more prone to heatsoak with the intake cover off, I wouldn't do it.

 

louder sound, heat soak potential, no hp gains. i did it for a day or so just because. didnt feel or see any difference then i got a cai and would never go back.

I don't think "a lot" is accurate... I think most people.. atleast those who are smart enough to count to 5 know what a retard move it is to drive around with the lid off the OEM box.

WTH? People take off the lid because the sound is muffled bu the box, but you lose some hp and I think the car runs richer than normal because the intake now sucks hotter air from the engine bay and thus makes less power.

If you're not in need of all your hp and don't mind slightly lower mpg, the sound can be fun. I don't see what's so retarded about it though.

 

Intentionally reducing power from a stock engine for noise is pretty retarded.


Buy a CAI.

 

mine is on 95% of the time. I actually took it off today, just to enjoy the sound. The car just sounds amazing with it off! There is no noticeable power loss that you could tell by yourself, but there is heatsoak. It's just fun to do for a day.
