Default How much headroom in S2000?

Hi everyone....

I'm thinking about whether to buy an S2000 but have one initial concern before I get to far into it and that is whether there will be enough head and leg room for me.

I'm 6'2", are there any owners here that are the same height or taller and do you have any problems with the soft top and hard top?

Also is the leg room ok? I don't do lots of long distance driving but like to be comfortable

Any advice you can give would be appreciated

Thanks

I am 6'0 and I fit in the S2000 just fine. The leg room is ok too! I don't know if is me but the hard top seems to have more headroom than the soft top. I been on trips in this car and is pretty comfy! I think some people in this forum are taller than you but they just do fine! You should go and test drive one and see if you are comfortable seating on it!

I'm 6' 1.5" at 205 lbs, I feel pretty tight in the car, like I JUST fit, Personally I feel if I were any taller or wider the car would be to small.. I do just fine on long trips.. though I do wear earplugs on drives of more than 3-4 hours... this car produces a ton of wind noise at 80 mph .. I have a co-worker who is 6'3" about 240 and he won't even ride to lunch with me, says he feels incredibly cramped. There are also people on the forums who are taller than I who say the car is just fine for them.. My advice take as long a test drive as the dealer will let you, or spend some time sitting in it at the lot.. better yet, make friends with someone who owns one..and ride around... You don't want to take the depreciation hit on a new car only to realize later you find it uncomfortable. Also I think it makes a difference if it's your daily driver or not.. something that would get old putting up with every day might go completely unnoticed on weekend jaunts.
Cheers!
Mike

The only way you're going to find out is to sit in one -- or better yet, drive one. Each person sits and drives differently, so someone with the same height may feel very comfortable, but it is impossible to say how you'd feel sitting in the same car. Good luck.

I'm 6'1" and 230lbs and I have a couple inches to spare above my head and another two notches to slide the seat back. There's plenty of room once you're inside the car. It's the initial folding of the human body in ways it was never intended to fold when getting into the car that I have the most trouble with.

I don't doubt that your friend who is 6"4 and 240 pounds must feel like a whale in a swimming pool. Maybe you should suggest he start eating salad when you go out for lunch!

I'm just shy of 6 feet and on long drives IE 3-4 hours of constant driving it is a little cramped but manageable. It all depends on your comfort levels!

I'm 6'3 and have NO problems. With the top up, there is much more headroom than my Celica had. One of the reasons I went with the S2k instead of the Mazdaspeed Miata was room... I just didn't fit into the Mazda.

Anyway, width is the issue. If you're 6'3 and 180lb like me, you're fine. If you're 6'3 and 240, you shouldn't be sitting in sport seats.

Thanks a lot guys you've given me some confidence that headroom should be ok so I will start looking for a local dealer to have a test drive

I sat in every S2000 I could get near to in the 2.5 years I was saving for the car. It always felt a little tight to me but "maybe" not that bad. It wasn't until I finally got to test drive one (a used '02 model with about 34k miles on it) that I came to know that the car would work for me.

I'm 6'2" and weight 230 lbs. Head room in my car, top up, is just fine! It's actually a little better than a '94 Ford T-Bird I drove for 7 years. Leg room, is a touch tight (I'm a 34" inseam) but certainly manageable. As a reference, I put the seat back full upright, move the seat bottom full aft and then work it two clicks forward from that position. I then lean the seat back as far aft as it will go.

Good luck & Drive Safe,
Steve R.
