Thanks for the info. I have heard/read about the horror stories about people blowing engines due to missed gears. Where did you find the article?

That's all well and fine, but for God's sake, how do I get the damn thing into 6th gear? There was no tutorial for this!

That's great but the core of the issue in my mind is the fact that having a 6th gear means there is another 1/2 of the H pattern.

A 5-speed only offers the horrible missed downshift from 5 to 2. The 6-speed offers 6 to 1 when 6 to 3 was desired, or 6 to 2 when 6 to 4 was desired, or 5 to 2 when 5 to 4 was desired, etc. A 6-speed requires some serious concentration if you want to drop a couple of gears at a time. IMHO.

The way they demonstrate to shift from 2-3 seems like you could easily misshift and do a 2-5.

...also the way they describe 3-4 might misshift to 6.

It seems like this article is specifically for 5 speeds. I can not recommend it for a 6 speed.
