probably one of the most reliable sports cars you can buy. I don't think you can really compare the reliability to an Accord or Civic....

In my experience it has displayed typical Honda reliability over the last (nearly) 5 years. The difference between this and other Hondas is that it takes a little more diligence to maintain the correct oil level. In other words it uses some oil whereas other Hondas seem to use little or almost no oil.

I got my car with 78,035 miles, I now have ~79,600. Thank god I haven't had any problems yet. There are many S2Ki-ers that have well over 100K miles on the car, so for a sports car, I'd say that the S2000 is very reliable...

It all comes down to maintenance of the car. If you treat it well, it will treat you really nicely. This doesn't mean that you cant push it or ahve fun with it. Just keep up with oil changes and preventative maintenance and you should *NOT (ROFL I ALWAYS seem to miss out the nots in my posts) have many problems...

The S2000 is pretty damn reliable for a sports car. I've got 76k miles on my '02 and nothing has broken yet.

Although reliable, you still need to maintain it like the sports car it is. For instance, fluid change intervals ought to be more frequent than on your typical Honda.

had my car since november 04 and done nothing to it...no oil use, no warranty repairs, tires still good at 13,600 miles, oil changes and wiper blades and soon replace trans and diff oil, that's it, period.

hondas are reliable as a rule, i have had three honda products all of which have been the best cars i have owned. i have had other marques and had good and bad luck, depending.

i would recommend a honda to anyone interested.

According to Consumer Reports, the predicted reliability for various Honda cars is as follows:

S2000: Good
Accord: Very Good
Civic: Excellent
CR-V: Excellent
Element: Excellent
Insight: NA (not enough data)
Odyssey: Very Good
Pilot: Very Good
Ridgeline: New (too new for prediction)

For kicks, here are some other cars we hear about:

Porsche 911: Good
Subaru Impreza: Very Good
Mitsubishi EVO: NA
Mini Cooper: Fair
BMW 3 Series: Good
Acura RSX: Excellent
Audi TT: Fair
Jaguar X Type: Poor
Nissan 350Z: Good
Toyota Celica: Excellent
Volkswagen Golf: Fair

I think that an important thing to keep in perspective when assessing overall reliability compared to "other Hondas" is the usage of the vehicle.

In other words, manufacturer quality aside it is an apples to oranges comparison when comparing an s2k to say an Accord. The majority of Accords are not driven "hard". Their respective owners drive them fairly conservatively whereas most s2k owners will at the very least push the car once in awhile. 95% of the folks who own an s2k perceive driving as more than just "getting from A to B". Someone who drives a Pilot, Accord, Civic, Element, etc as their only car is more likely to use their car simply as a tool for transportation while not deriving much pleasure from it.

The s2k is very reliable for what it is: a sports car. If you drove it like you were a 45 year old soccer mom behind the wheel of a Caravan I am sure it would last you for years and years and years with minimal upkeep. If you drive it like the average s2k owner than it will still last you for years and years, but you will need to pay a little more attention to things than you would otherwise.

The Ridgeline IS a Pilot. It's just got the rear roof chopped off!

As for the S2000? Mine is 9 months old with 14.5k miles on it and so far, it's 100% I know that's not saying much in the grand scheme of things but it's looking good so far!

FWIW!
