Default How should we go about this...?

As we are testing things and building out my car, what information is most useful to you? I will be dyno'ing before and after major engine mods, but things like brake pads and other suspension parts are not measurable on a dyno and can be rather subjective in their benefit. I am headed to Gingerman next Friday, hopefully I'll have new S02's on before then as my third set are pretty much slicks. But the question popped into my head a few minutes ago...how and in what format is the things that I am testing a benefit to you?

I have baseline lap times at Gingerman that I will be using as a guideline and that is a good approach, IMO...but if anyone has anything specific they are looking for, I'll make sure to zero in on those things, as well...

So, post what you would like to me to look for and how the things we have done to the car have impacted performance...reporting back my take on things is almost as much fun as doing the research....(yes, almost)

Let me know...!

I wouldn't think your lap times would make for good measurement.... i have seen your driving, and it can only get better.... ahahahah... no mods required.

Isn't the biggest thing the baseline hp, then...right then...same day and conditions...swap the parts and dyno it again......

(i personally got A.D.D., so I had no chance of reading all of those arguements about all of this stuff)

Roundtrip airfare to your locale followed by a day of evaluation lapping of Scarlet would work for me.

Greg, are you going to Gingerman on the 25? If so, any chance for a few others to join you? I am not sure of my plans this weekend yet. But lapping would be a good if I am around.

Brake mods can be easily tested by measuring stops from constant speed. And of course we need to know what other "benefits" they cause (like brake dust or scored rotors)...

Intangibles? Well I'd still like to hear your impressions, especially if you have a basis for comparison. I'm surprised that nobody here has posted acoustic dB charts for the various exhausts, as opposed to saying "boomy" or "loud."

I don't have much advice that hasn't already been mentioned but I do have something to ask. Many people slap on a K&N air filter and talk about how they can "feel" the "power"...I don't buy it. If it's not a 15-20%+ gain I don't think you'll be able to "feel" it.

A quantifiable dyno is just about all I want to see. So, be careful that you do not see (or "feel") what you want to see.

There are many performance products that we buy because we know they're good for the car...I don't have to "feel" the power of an cool air intake, headers, or exhaust to know it's good for the car.
