How smoothly can you shift?
Since the AP2 is equipped with a CDV, the ability to shift smoothly is hampered.
For those that have driven cars NOT equipped with a CDV, in addition to the AP2, how does the AP2 compare in shift smoothness?
Is there noticeable jerk, knock, etc. after a normal shift compared to another car, or AP1, that doesn't have a CDV present.

I've driven both AP1 and AP2 and can shift smoothly with both. You can't drive them as if they were the same car; you have to adjust your footwork to match the type of clutch engagement for that car, as with any other manual car.
If you were to drive the AP1 and the AP2 *exactly* the same way, the AP2 would technically have to be smoother (though this is not necessarily a better thing) because the CDV would be slipping the clutch a bit.

It really depends on how you drive. Almost all manual cars (if not all) will drive different as the clutch will engage at a different point, the ideal shift point are different, etc.
Yes you have to account for the CDV, but another thing I've seen drivers in s2000 do (myself included at times) that causes the ride to be less smooth is shift to soon in the early gears. If you shift from 1-2nd at 3000 RPMS and you shift slowly, the flywheel may have already slowed down below the speed in 2nd gear and when you engage it, it will actually have to be sped up to match. Granted this happens more in cars with aftermarket flywheels, but still.
The point is, most people will say there cars are broken but a lot of the time its just the driver needs to adjust to all the different variables.

The S engages much smoother when you shift 1-2 closer to 4K rpm's

both of my cars has totally different feels to it and requires different driver input.
learning how to drive better>short shifter/cdv removal/clutch MC
