Default How to take badges off?

I'm thinking of removing the side "s2000" emblems and getting the side markers removed and filled in so it will look something like the pic below. How do I take the side emblems off?

you can use fishing wire. they're just stuck on with adhesive backing. you'll just have to clean up the residue.

don't quote me on this, but I'm assuming they are just stuck on with adhesive. If so, take a hair drier and heat them up a bit to soften the adhesive. then use some dental floss and run it behind to separate it from the body. they use some cleaner to get the rest of the sticky off. After this, you should wipe down with soap and water and wax the area.

Floss might break, fishing line is better. The best is the plastic straps that they use to hold large boxes together. If you bought an aftermarket exhaust you know what I'm talking about.

I have used dental floss several times in the past and it has worked fine on other cars once you heat up the adhesive. I imagine everyone has some floss lying around, but not everyone has fishing line.

Whatever you decide to use be prepared to take some time in doing it. It's a timely process to make sure you don't scratch your paint or dent the side fender.

Don't lose patience.....cause it's easy to do.

I've seen it done with dental floss and line....both work.

Some type of adhesive remove is good too. Just make sure to wipe it all off and wax when your done.

As for the side markers being shaved......although the look is clean, keep in mind that lane changing will become a whole new animal and others abreast of you will not be able to see immediately if you are going to occupy the center lane before them.

someone correct me if i'm wrong here not sure how much it'll cost you

but take in the fact that you'll need to sand down to the bare metal, weld a piece of sheet metal to cover it, grind it smooth, bondo, and then repaint...and repeat.

cheapest way i can think of is to paint a piece of sheet metal silverstone and tack it on from the back.

honestly, its probably going to cost you at least $300, probably more, if you want to do it properly.

Dont forget, you are going to have to have the holes filled and sanded, and then both fenders painted AND blended to the doors and the hood (possibly even the front bumper).

You could just get the fenders painted, but you run the risk of the paint not matching the rest of the car.

trust me, this comes from someone who has had pretty much the whole car repainted making sure all the panels match properly - if you want perfection, it doesnt come cheap.
