I will be getting the spoon X brace soon and drive a lot! I have now like 5 cases of oil in my garage. I was wondering how well the pump works to suck the oil from the dip stick.

Her is a quote from Griots Garage:
"A Japanese magazine (Automechanic, Nov. 1997 issue) tested our Oil Extractor to see if it would be able to withdraw more oil versus draining the oil using the "drain plug" method. Great news! The Oil Extractor was able to withdraw an additional 71ml of oil on a late model Toyota. Due to the ultra tight packaging of engine compartments these days, it seems manufacturers are locating the drain plug in areas that compromise complete oil drainage. You're gonna love changing your oil!"

Well looks like it works pretty well! Though anybody here use it? I plan on getting it! Though that 65 dollar price is high!

No, but I've been eyeing that. With three cars, I'm getting a bit tired of all that crawling around on the floor to change oil.

It's also the answer if you accidently overfill your crankcase.

Let us know how you like it!

Probably not but if the oil level is close enough to a spinning crankshaft (especially one at 9k RPM), whipping air into the oil is the result. Aerated oil just doesn't lubricate like "solid" oil...

From above as well! Just gotta be careful. I take the plug out that is by the VTEC celinoid. What would be really easy is if that huge air box was outta the way!

I would be concerned that pumping the oil "up" through the dipstick would tend to leave heavier particles in the oil pan that would naturally be swept out through the drain plug when draining the oil in the conventional manner.

Just a thought.
