Default HT installation HELP!

Hey Guys,

I am ALMOST done with HT install and just sorta stuck at this last step...

Well, I used the DIY on here to install the HT and everything went well EXCEPT...

How do you install(attach) ROOF TOP PILLARS? There is such a short room in there now that I can't really get it to align... Is there any tricks to do this step more easily?

Thank in adavance for any inputs...

Don't understand what you mean by rooftop pillars. Is the top OEM or something other?

OEM, sorry, it's roof pillars, not rooftop... It's the plastic cover that covers the inside of OEM hardtop... (in the back part)

Thanks

Remove the top from the car, install them, then put it back on the car.

Removing the hardtop makes the covers MUCH easier to install though it is still possible to install them with the hardtop on. I was able to install the covers with the HT on but would not recommend it.

Unless you wanna run the risk of scratching them all up.

Immediately after my HT was installed it squeaked and rattled like crazy. I put up with the noise for about a day, then went to the dealership and bought Shin Etsu silicone lube and applied it to all the soft black rubber seals on the outside edges of the hard top/windshield where the HT mates to the windshield, body, and around the windows.

My '06 S2K has about 48000 miles on it, and the HT is on the car year round; about every six months I apply some Shin Etsu silicone lubricant on all rubber surfaces. The HT has not needed any adjustments.

This may help quiet things down too... For latch rattles the dealer can give you some EPT Sealant (kind of like foam weather stripping), it really doesn't take very much to perform the fix below:

Clickie ---> Squeaks and Rattling Latch Fix

I performed the fix, AND tied down the latch hooks on each side of the lowered soft top with plastic cable ties (rubber bands work too); now my hard top is very, very, quiet - even on the bumpiest roads.
