Default Hump on floor passenger side/door lock '04 S2K

Just got my new '04 S2000 a few weeks ago. My wife complains that the floor on the passenger side isn't completely flat. There is a large hump on the left side. Does anyone know why the floor isn't flat?

Also, how can I unlock the passenger door lock from my driver seat? The unlock button on the key fob doesn't work when inserted into the ignition. Does my passenger need to manually unlock?

your tranny runs underneath there that's why the hump is there. Also no you can't unlock it. It's a stupid feature that no one has ever figured out why Honda made it that way

Don't mind turbo_pwr, YES, you can unlock the passenger side door. You have three choices: Physically reach over and unlock it; unlock the passenger door with the remote before you insert your key into the ignition; or modify the remote unlock logic (several sub-options available here). Do a search and you will find the discussions on this topic.

Edit: Sorry, forgot the 4th option: Buy a non-USDM version of the S2000, they come standard with a power unlock for the passenger side door (at least in Australia, but maybe other places as well). Why Honda of America did not install that same feature in the USDM cars I'll never know.

there's several mods to have the remote work regardless if in the ignition and a mod that unlocks both doors with one press of the remote
you have to be willing to cut wires for the 1st. and cut and tap for the 2nd

Umm? He's asking if he can unlock it without manually leaning over and unlocking it while it's in the ignition with the stock unmodified key fob. So what's wrong with my answer?

It's b/c of the catalytic converter. You have to remember that the car is low and most of the underworkings needed to be pushed into the subframe so they don't hang down.

There's actually two humps, and I'm not sure which one your wife is talking about. The one everybody mentioned is the catalytic converter, which is the one on the left side of the footwell. The hump that goes arrcoss the compartment just in front of the seat is a feature of the frame, and helps it as rigid as it is.

Plus it adds to the character of our cars, IMHO.

Driver's car... not really designed with passengers in mind.

98% of my driving is without a passenger...
