Hunting in S2K (pics) Long
This is one of the strangest things that has ever happened to me...
It all started on the ride home from Ocean City New Jersey about 3 weeks ago. I was cruising along at about 70 when my sister exclaims "what IS that?" and points to the road ahead. To me it just looked like some trash or leaves, it wasn't very big. So I lined up for it to go between the wheels, as it was directly in the middle of my lane. Well, at the last second we see a flurry of feathery flapping and hear a little thud as some winged creature entered the front of my S2K.
We pulled over to take a cursory look. I hadn't seen it come out in the rearview, but also couldn't find it in the car anywhere. It was getting dark and traffic was about to catch up so I jumped back in and promptly forgot it ever happened.
2 weeks later...
While preparing to install Rick's hood emblem, I noticed something below the front bumper. Low and behold, here is our furry friend, upside down with only it's head visible, looking right at me. It was directly centered on the bumper, it's head poking through an incredibly small oval shaped hole. It resembled an upside-down hood ornament attached under the bumper!

I immediately showed my neighbor and he was doubled over laughing when he found out it had been there for 2 weeks. Once you see it, it becomes very obvious and looks quite gruesome and humorous (if that's possible). I took some pictures and waited for my roommate to get home before pulling it out, so that he could attest to the uniqueness of the situation. How it got upside down in that hole I will never know.
Extraction...
Now that the humor had passed, we had to remove the sorry beast from the bumper. I retrieved some needle-nosed pliers from the house. Grabbing it's beak and looking away I tried to pull the sucker out. It sounded like it's body was ripping and my roommate and I countered with an "ewww!" He takes the pliers and gives it a shot. Now some fluid starts running down its neck and beak. "EWWWW!" we say with even more emphasis. He surrenders the pliers to me and I reach under straight armed and give it all I've got. After a bit of straining, out it plops. The first thing we realize is that it's HUGE compared to what we estimated. It's now not so funny as it appears a mass of feathers and injuries. I tell him we need one last picture of the unwanted guest before I toss him in the woods.

Anything can happen on any given day, especially with birds and stooks.

That is both TERRIBLY funny and TERRIBLY disgusting! Reminds me of a time I was with the Socal S2k's and NSX's and we were driving down some nice twisties in San Diego. I was doing about 100 on a straight and a bird landed on the street in front of me. Well, I slowed down but just as the bird began to take flight again he smacked into my front bumper. What did my front bumper look like, you ask? Well, just a lot of blood and goo. Don't think he made it and fortunately the Stook survived without a scratch. I felt kind of bad for awhile but there was really nothing I could have done.
By the way, I have the exact same car and thought about getting Rick's badges in the Silver/Red. Can you send me more pictures of your car so I can see what it looks like???????? Thanks,
