Hurricanes are FUN!
Hey all-
As most of you are well aware, hurricane Dennis is baring down on the FL panhandle. I first, and foremost, would like to ask for all of your prayers for people who are riding it out in Pensacola. I have several good friends over there and they decided to wait it out.
I live in Tallahassee, and we are just getting battered by constant rain and winds (25-30mph). Not too bad, and FUN AS HELL to drive in! Talk about swinging the tail out! Just a little blip of the throttle above 4k and the rear end is loose.
I have a question.....I have always LOVED swinging the tail out around some turns, but have always incurred some snap oversteer when I compensate for the rear ends swinging out by countersteering. How can I avoid this? I think this can be cured by not getting on the throttle too hard in the beginning.
Cheers from the arm-pit of the south! (wet, hot, and muggy).
STORM PARTY!!!

I live in Mobile, Alabama and we are riding out the storm. The winds are like 140-149 mph now (i heard different speeds from different news stations). Hope everyone that is riding out the storm makes it out alright.

there should be stuff all over CNN and the weather channel. Do a seach in a few day for damage slide shows....amazing power. Look up IVAN. I will look and post a link....took down I-10 for a few months.

Yeah I live about 70 miles from Tallahassee- spent the weekend in ATL and drove through some of that crap on I-75. Luckily I wasn't getting the worst of it but traffic on I-75 was down to about 45 mph, usually it's 80+.
We're just getting a lot of rain, my pool was almost overflowing so I had ot pump a bunch of water out.

Wisconsin - here is a link to CNN's photos....Dennis was not that bad, we were prepared. Do a search for Ivan damage.....THAT was impressive.

I doubt you're getting "snap oversteer" and especially in the rain which makes traction loss much more progressive. Anyway, the secret to controling oversteer is found in throttle application and in steering input.
Throttle application must be smooth and progressive. Over apply the gas and you'll get total loss of traction in the rear.
Peace out and be safe!
