Default Hwy Driving

How come so many people/magazines say that the S2k isn't good for hwy use but great for city use? It's no different than any other car really...maybe i'm missing something.

its noisy and the rpm is at 3k if you're cruising at 55mph(or something like that). so some people thats excessive, but i am perfectly happy with it. if you're used to the extra plush and quiet ride of a benz, then the s2k can be a pain.

Oh, I see but 3k rpm in 6th gear = 55rpm? sound a bit high.

My civis is quieter, smoother, and more stable than my S on the highway. But at the same time I would rather be driving my s on the highway than my civic

S2k is completely different than most cars. When they talk about highway use, I think they're talking about longer trips of a few hours or more. No room to wiggle, spread out your road snacks and that sort of thing in an S2k. Not saying that's bad, just what I think they're referring to.

Yeah, cruising at 220kmh results in 7000rpm! In-car conversation is impossible past 240. It's also not as stable at speed as my old M3, either.

It's great on country roads or racetracks though. Dealing with parking in European cities isn't that great, and view of traffic lights is tougher with the way the windshield is designed.

people are complaining bout the noise? I love how it roars at my ass when I'm driving local streets. hop onto the fwy and it roars at you some more when you throw it into vtec. lets face it this car is a high reving car and with most performace vechile you expect to hear the engine.
