Default I don't need to defend my S2000

The most unimportant pieces of information that can be obtained on this otherwise excellent website are the too often posted links to discussions in which the S2000 is denigrated by way of comparison to other automobiles.

I was drawn to the S2000 because it's styling and performance appealed to me, because it was what I wanted in a car, and because it fulfilled a life-long desire to own a 2-seat roadster.

I liked it before I bought one, I liked it more after I test drove two of them, and I am completely satisfied with it after I purchased mine.

I didn't want a Z3, a Boxter, a Vette, an M3, or any of the other excellent cars out there. I wanted a Honda S2000.

My opinion of the S2000 is not impacted negatively or positively by the caustic and often profane ramblings of those who are enamored of other makes and models and who derive some sort of pleasure from tearing down the cars that other's drive.

Consequently I see little value in reading their opinions and even less in responding to them.

I encourage everyone to really enjoy their next experience behind the wheel of their S2000 - it's one fine roadster!

Couldn't agree more.

I stopped reading all the "S2000 vs X" a long time ago.

This should be on the homepage to make everyone think before posting.

Most of us on this thread are in our 40s or 50s (I think). I wonder if that is why we don't feel the need to compare our car to others in an effort to prove it's superiority. We are, for the most part, content in knowing that we have what we want. We are satisfied, and that is reward enough.

KMCC put into words what I have felt. I too didn't want any of the other excellent cars out there, I just wanted the S2000.

That there are other great cars doesn't diminish the S2000. That the S is a great car doesn't diminish the others.

I'm 25 and I totally agree with the original post. I've ignored virtually all (in fact, probably all) posts where someone asks us to defend the S2000, to convince him or her to buy an S2000 etc.

In fact I find posts like that rather arrogant. It's probably just me, but I feel when someone asks something like, "why should I buy an S2000 over <insert car here>? convince me," it's like he is too good to do their own research, and just wants the rest of us to do it for him.

I've felt this way since day one (two weeks ago). I also just wanted a fast roadster that looked great. My "friend" says I should have gotten an NSX (yeah, like I can afford one, or want one). Don't people just like cars for the way they drive, look, and make one feel good behind the wheel? I could care less if an Eclipse or 'Vette can beat me in a race. I didn't buy my car to race. I got it because it makes me happy. ! I was also going to start a thread like this one tonight, glad some others feel as I do. A roadster is in a class all it's own, and in our class, we own . Why the need to feel like we have to win races to justify our purchases? If I wanted faster, I could have bought faster, but that isn't what owning a car is about to me, it's about how it makes me feel. I've have plenty of cars, some faster, but this car makes me happy to drive, plus you don't see one driving down the road every mile
