I finally feel comfortable driving 9/10's
replying to earlier comment of controlling tail kick out at above 30 mph say around.... 70 - 80. Watching the Amuse car race from a BEST MOTORING dvd was scary seeing the S kick out at well over 70, probably close to 100 mph and the driver (maybe it was Tsuchiya) just holding it a little sideways then straightening it completely back up was a scary thought for something like that to happen to me...period.
I really would like to learn how to push this car, I know my current ability really isn't all that great. I feel I may be above the average driver but nothing that I would trust driving balls to the wall and be comfortable. Hopefully now that I am out of college I can make my way to a driving school or start some autox to sharpen my skills and get to enjoy what this car was designed for.

I'm very comfortable at my 5/10th of my car's ability. I've lost control and regained it so many times that now I'm very comfortable w/ rear giving out. I know when it's about to give, and know how to handle it/correct it. I'm just NOT comfortable doing this at hwy speed.
I would love to be a passenger and have someone drive my car that knew how to to it's full potential. Any takers?

Just my humble opinion, but I believe that a good way to improve your driving skills would be to take a mixed approach:
1, An Evo or similar autocross school or High Performance Driving School (as opposed to racing school) of the type held by Skip Barber, Bondurant, etc.
2, A year of autocrossing (one event is useless to build any skills

We just had a mini debate in the NYC forum, some say event, others education. For me it's been High Performance Driving Event, but what does it matter, we get the picture
...and dude, I'm slow. And I'm not being modest. I'm pretty sure that anyone here with track time would mop the floor with me. Same for most at autocross.
But I don't spin alot - mebbie cause I'm slow *shrug*
Another year of being soundly thrashed by NJTom in the NNJSCCA series awaits......

After more track days than I can count I've realized that that magic #10 keeps moving I thought I was getting 10/10's out of the car last year and 10 seconds slower around the track... The more you drive the more you learn that the bar keeps being raised.
If you wan to see a 100mph slide/save on the track download the "Save at homestead Video" link at my site http://www.s2kfx.com/video.htm/ its MPEG 2 format so if you have a DVD player on your PC it should run fine...
BTW. Their is ablsoultely no way you can even have a clue where 10/10's is on your car until you have spent time on the track. It is impossible to drive the car anywhere near the limits on the steet for more than just a moment or two.
Just my not so humble oppinion....
