Good thing you survived this horrible crash. . .

I guess I know why you never responded to the Outer Banks Run emails. . .

Well, good luck in getting a new S2000. . .

Another handling rule-of-thumb: Always be prepared for oversteer in a turn and never take a turn hard that runs parallel to a guardrail, embankment, curb, etc. The car should only be pushed in turns where there's margin for error.

I did a 180 in my old Taurus SHO on a ramp once by taking a turn too hard. Believe it or not, there was room on the ramp for it to turn 180 degrees. The whole moronic experience resulted in no damage. Amazing but true.

It's also amazing but true that you and your g/f survived the accident. Learn from your harsh lesson and take it easy when the conditions aren't 100%. Also, try to get over your driving anxiety (I know, I've been there) and get a new 2002 ASAP!

If you don't care to experience the S2000's famous tendency to snap-oversteer, test drive a new SVT Cobra. The Cobra's handling, while not in the same class as the S2K, is much more predictable and safer in my opinion. Or, if you got the cash, spring for a C5. There is also the Miata which is much more docile and predictable in the turns.

dude, finally saw the pix.
I am sorry to see the damaged done to the car.
but I am so glad that you can live to tell the story.
I will keep my fingers crossed for your speedy recovery.

and now, somebody build me a roll bar please!! (I'm 6'1" ... )

but there is something that I don't really get ...
how come people got killed in SUV roll over, but you survived a open-air car roll over?!
simply luck or engineering plays a big part?

i have a friend who flipped a civic and walked away with cuts and bruses (he fell asleep on the freeway and ran into a dip ...)

drive safe, people.

More engineering than luck, although luck plays a large part. SUV's, while advertised as such, are really not any safer than other vehicles. They are especially bad in roll overs because their top frames are not strong enough to support the massive weight of the vehicle...thus crushing the occupants.

Looking at the pictures of this rollover, it was a pretty hard one; the roll bars are bent forward. Glad to hear you walked away from it w/o serious injury! Nice to know that the cage engineered into this car actually works, too bad you had to be one of those to prove it.

Wow, that's just amazing. Glad that you two were relatively unhurt. Considering those pictures, the injuries could have been much worse.

Damn that was a hard roll! Glad both of you lived to tell about it too. It looks like the windshield folded back and the rollbars folded forward. Looking at the seat your passenger was in I'm not at all surprised that she had a broken collarbone. She was lucky that was all. Looks like you left a little blood on your seat too.

Wow, that hurts! Glad y'all lived...

Wow.... You and your friend can thank God and Honda. Once again the 'cabin' of the S2000 proves to be up to the task of protecting it's occupants.

Gods but that is scary I'm so glad you and your friend are still here to talk of the incident, at 6'4 I doubt I'd be so lucky.

I hope this doesn't put you off owning another roadster even if it isn't an S2000 but consider that when things went bad it did a pretty good job of keeping you in 1 piece.
