I got it!
Finally, after all the hand wringing and gut crunching, my beauty is in the garage. It had 5 miles on it - absolutely perfect condition. Very happy with the color choice. As I pulled up, the guy that is doing some of the repairs to my house said "I need to charge you more!". My wife went nuts over the car - I have never seen her this excited over any of my other rides, including the NSX, my ZR-1, etc - of course, she said it was "adorable".
I got 4.1%/48 mos. No extended warranty. $700/year for insurance.
I went back to work this afternoon, and parked next to my colleague's Boxster in a similar color - the S2000 made it look positively frumpy, like an orthopedic shoe. The MY04 has a definite forward rake.
It was too cold to drop the top, and snow is expected tonight. If it clears Saturday, I am going over to Charlottesville to see Ma and Pa, and my brother, who is arriving in the E55 AMG. He is a big S2000 fan, and is toying with the idea of adding one to his stable of cars.
Of course, I have only driven 12 miles, but the thing certainly has more low end ballz than the 2003 I test drove. No surprises. Ride is better than my Cobra, except choppier because of the short wheelbase. Fit and finish - beyond reproach. No steering wheel adjustment? That was a surprise, but I have a clear view of the gauges, and have no trouble seeing the redline bars at all as others have griped about the 2004.
Dealer PDI was cool - no mounting of the front plate, didn't use any greasy kid stuff tire dressing, etc.
So I am now officially in the club - "Khan" has no cons. I cannot wait to roll on some miles and break this puppy in right - or to drop the top.
Thanks to all for your support and helping convince me that the car, and the S2K community, were wise choices.
My wife was leery of the ragtop, but helped me put the cover on, which had a little condom-like provision for the stubby antenna - a nice touch!
We also hooked up my three high voltage grids which should keep the 7 fuzzballs we have off the top.

Great news! Good to hear that your wife approved of the purchase too.
Unfortunately for me I think my dealer took lessons from yours. After telling them to order me up a Berlina five weeks ago and having them tell me about a week and a half ago that it should be here before Christmas, today I checked their inventory on their web page and a new Suzuka had appeared... Same BS lines about color mix ups. Now I truely know how you felt
. I was all set to take a long road trip down the coast to San Francisco between Christmas and New Years
. Frikkin' bone heads.
