I had no problems arranging a test drive...why do others?
I noticed that a lot of people had problems test driving any vehicle that they wanted to purchase either the s2k or any other comparison driving tests. I had no problem testing out the s2k, z3, and the TT. The only dealer who didn't allow me a test drive was porsche for the boxster.
Not only did the above three allow me a test drive, they kinda pushed it on me. They almost insisted i test drive the car.
Just wondering if anyone else had similar experiences to mine or did you also get shun for test drives?

Ironic. I got to drive the boxster at a penisula deale rhere, but had to go to several Honda dealers before I got lucky with the s2000. Z3s were available to drive "everywhere', which was nice. TT was in short supply here too last year.

I'm almost sure too that if some salesman sees some young kid in there wanting to test drive a s2k he's not going to let the kid do it..BUT if there is an older gentleman or middle age or whatever wanting too i'd be sure that the salesman would have no problem taking him out in one..being a young guy myself, i've run into those problems before..i went to one dealership walked around, asked for help and nobody seemed interested in helping me..even when i asked, they were pushing each other towards helping me..piss me off!..then i went back with my mom just to show her and POW, 3 sales people on us like they were hounds..i eventually ended up going somewhere else where i got excellent service with just me going in..not with anyone else..
Here in Westchester, NY, a pain to arrange for a test drive in S2000. One dealer wanted a deposit for the purchase first before the test drive, the other dealer made a fuss about moving the car. No problems getting a test drive for the Boxster though.
Ok this is wierd. I had a salesman toss me the keys to a 911 C2. Damn what a ride. I'd have to say that my Melissa is more fun to drive. I know for a fact she was alot cheaper. But damn that Porsche was sweet.

No dealer around here would let me test drive without a sales contract and deposit. Even after that I was only allowed to drive it around the block. They had five on the lot. I'm middle aged and was trading in a 2000 Z3.
I had to do some serious legwork before I got a ride in my stook. When I went to the local Honda dealership (Gary Smith Honda) to test drive their '00 White/Red, they flat out refused. Apparently, "they only let people who are serious contenders to buy the car test drive it." Excuse me? I know I'm a young guy, (therefore I obviously could never dream of owning a car like that) and I understand there's a lot of people just looking for a joy ride, but if they'd just explained the situation rather than make an assumption based on appearance, they might have made a sale. Well, prolly not, b/c they were asking $37,500 for last year's model with 8k miles on it, but that's not the point
. So, mildly torqued off, I drove an hour to Pensacola and bought a brand new red one for considerably less money (though I still had to jump through some hoops to get the test drive.) With my mission accomplished, I then drove back by Gary Smith in my brand new baby and told them my story. They didn't have much to say. Even better, they still hadn't sold that white one a month later
. Ahhh, revenge is sweet. Sorry for the rant...I feel much better now.
