If you're going to repaint the entire car, can you ask your friend to use a paint that won't chip so easily as the Honda paint? There are tons of threads about people having issues, having the paint measured, and finding that the paint is too thin.

My front bumper has the exact same problem.

Although I bought it knowing it was in an accident previously, and I can tell it was re-sprayed. I assume that's what happened to yours. It was probably re-sprayed

Why, when Honda fetches a mere $300 for a rear OEM bumper, would someone elect to repair and repaint an S2000 bumper?

I have an 06 LBP with many paint chips, particularly on the hood. I'm asking Honda for a complete repaint.

Lots-a-luck with that. Honda uses the same brand of paint as the other automotive manufacturers for cars in the $30k price range, I don't see why everyone keeps bashing Honda about the paint on this car.

I think unless you buy a Porsche, BMW, Mercedes or other high end car, the paint is going to be the same across the board.

If you do get it painted you should get a clear bra put on.

It seems as if most "new" car paint chips pretty easily, or fades. I've resigned myself to the fact that if I keep a car for any real length of time (4+ years) then I'll just get most of the body panels, if not the whole car repainted in the factory color.

In fact, the hood has already been redone and I'm going to have the front bumper redone this summer as well.

Because the mere $300 includes an unpainted bumper

Do you park your car outside all the time?

Looks like you are living by the rocky mountains ... as a wild guess, the rain might have something to do with deteriating paint.

Of course ... I don't know for sure.
