Default I hate my cel...also vaccum line questions!

Ok Hello everybody. Ok so i installed the aem cai. It is awesome and i love it. After it was installed my Check engine light came on about 24 hours later. So i did a search and found some really good threads. I did have the check valve unside down. So I fixed that then reset my CEL. Ok all is fine then about 24 hours later and about 100 miles .......bing its back on.
Ok so i check again I thought maybe i had the input and output of the air solinoid backwards so i fix that. Reset cel and all is good ....then you got it Cel came on about 24 hours later.
Okay so i see a post where maybe the vaccum line form AEM
is a little to large and might not create a vaccum.....so i go and by some 3mm vaccum line,,,,,,,ok definetly tight enough now.....was tough to get on. ...ok reset CEL. And again about 24 hours later the fricken cel came on. Ok so may be i have a leak or a hole in one of the lines. So i repalce all the vaccum line. I wanted to change them to red any way.....so i bought some silicon red tubes....is the silicon the same as vaccum. They seem thinner. So I installed them reset cel and 24 hours later CEL back on. Ok so i need some help here fellas. HEre are a few of my questions.

1. The Cel comes on when i first start it. But only if the engine is not hot. This makes me think that it is a vaccum issue because the lines are used for cold starts to pass emission. Any thoughts?

2. Is silicon lines the same as vaccum. Could i finally have the plumbing correct and silicon lines cant hold a vaccum?

3. The inboard and outboard of the air solenoid. Which is which.

4. Can something else be causing the CEL to click on. It has all the tell tale signs of vaccum tube problem.

ok here is my plumbing top line by fuel rail to check valve with the large diameter up and the small diameter down then to the left side of the box on the frame . (if your standing in front of the car)

bottom line by fuel rail to the air control solenoid in board line.
(anyone have a pic of whats in and whats out.)
then from the outboard airsolenoid to the right side of the box on the frame.

Yes the gas cap is on tight. I bought some lines that say vaccum tube lines. I am going to replumb all the lines again i just want to make sure which is the inboard and out board of the airsolenoid. It seems that i have lost no performance with the CEL on. I can easily bark the tires in one-two shift where i could not before the install. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ohhhh by the way did i mention i hate my CEL!

I think that I would put another car side by side and compare the two.

anybody with engine bay pics with the aem cia. I saw a post from
someone inwhich utah and dark gave informative walk through and pic of a comptech cia. But the airsolenoid was blocked from view in the pic. Utah describes the plumbing great but just says the inboard and out board nipple of the airsolenoid....which is which?

The tubing routing as you just described is correct. I just went out and checked. Silicone tubing is generally NOT good for vacuum lines as it is too soft. It is used more for carrying a fluid through it under positive pressure but I don't think in this application that it would be that adverse but who's to say? I take it that when you removed the metal tubing loom that all the other "loose" ends were appropriately re-connected with the supplied tubing? I am at a loss as to why you keep getting that CEL. Hopefully, there is not some other issue that has coincidentally cropped up and is masked by the AEM install. Good luck an keep us informed as to what it might be.

Thanks x-viper. Yeah i am at a loss too. I guess the next step is to reinstall the stock box see if it clicks on and then take it down to the dealer. It is so strange how it shows its ugly head when the car is cold ..(one bar and less). I'll figure this gremlin out. p.s. i repalced all the lines with vaccum lines this morning reset the cel was fine Just went outside and started it up and there it was again 15 seconds in on a cold start. Well thanks again. ...p.s. i still laugh every time i see that babys head.
That has to be one of the cutest baby pictures i have seen in a long ...long time.

That picture shows it exactly the same routing as mine. Something else has to be the problem.
ps. I'm actually a bit older than my avatar. A LOT older.

Are all of your hose connections tight? I couldn't tell by looking at the picture, but a slightly loose hose could cause your problem (vacuum leak).

Good luck,
Bob
