Default I have a problem ..

I am from Canada and I purchased a salvaged title 01 Honda S2000 in US.

I have read and complied with all other requirments stated by the custom agency.

However, the car is missing the US Compliance Label on the driver side door jam.

I am assuming the sticker was removed while the car was re-painted or what have you.

I need this label or an letter of compliance from Honda, however Honda will not give those letters out on salvaged vehicles.

so, basically I dont' know what options I have except not be able to import and sell it in US.

Any ideas or options you guys can give me?

Oh, my... That's ridiculous, but you're fighting government here.

If the salvage title isn't enough for customs, perhaps you can have someone contact a US dealer for you and try to get them to get the original information on the VIN to you (or Canadian customs, that is).

Yes, I can get a recall clearance letter from an authorize Honda dealer. I dont' know if that is suffice for customs, as they are looking for a label or letter of compliance. Is there a way for me to go to the dealer have the vehicle inspected and complianced again in US? It is so ridiculous as if I was able to import it into Canada, I have to have it inspected to meet Canadian federal requirments, so its basically useless to have that US label as I will need to inspect it in Canada and get an Canadian label.

Please anyone encounter this problem or have any ideas?

I think you're going to need to contact your customs office and get the skinny on what's actually needed. Sorry, I don't know. Good luck!

The Nader sticker just says that the vehicle complies to all DOT safety requirements in force on the date of manufacture... seems strange they can't just see the DOT #s on the headlights, taillights, and windows...

However, it also says the bumper requirement and theft prevention requirements

The custom doesn't know how to check for the DOT #s, they just know how to follow procedure.
