Default I heard that the S2K is banned from certain tracks or sanctions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey guys,

is this true!?! I would like to know where I can go and get track time/instruction with out one of those funny looking roll bars in my car. I know that my sound unexperienced but if I got a roll bar that means that I would have to cut into my dash....NOOOOOO! I live over on in North Carolina and I very much enjoy VIR but I read on honda-tech that the S2k was banned from that track. Is any of this true? I see miata's on the track without roll cages, if true, why are they targeting the S2k?

I would appreciate some help guys. I am currently a member of NASA and I am wondering if they have banned the S2k. Where do you guys go and what organization are you members of?

Cheers!

Yes, I believe it is true. It's because it's a convertible.

It is true, I was at the VIR event last week and though there were a few S2Ks in attendence they were not allowed to be on the track. Miata's are allowed because they have a "real" roll bar.

Are these rool bars addons? I don't recall recent Miatas having built in roll bars, or do they?

That's right, Miata's don't come with factory rollbars, but they have been out for 11 years and have huge aftermarket support. So there are tons of options for rollbars, something which the S2000 doesn't enjoy...yet.

And any sanctioning body has the right to allow or disallow whatever cars based on their own rules. Tracks, car clubs, whoever is putting on the event all have the right to refuse participation of a certain car...

I pass the broom stick test...which is IMO not exactly the most effective test for this kind of a thing...but I'm just 5'8" and the Mugen seat in which I place my skinny butt is 70mm lower than the stock seat. I'm not, however, sure if the 70mm number is in the middle or the lower setting. But I do know that it's significantly lower...and I can actually see my feet when driving. Took me about 3 minutes to get used to that, and I absolutely LOVE it.

I'd suggest doing some research. Find out if the tracks near you specifically prohibit our car and , if they say they do, find out if they actually ENFORCE that rule. There is a track in So. Cal. that, if you call them to rent the track, will tell you they prohibit convertibles without aftermarket rollbars. However, they don't really enforce the rule. Also, find out what groups run on the track that you would be interested in running with and talk to them about whether your car would be allowed. While some groups and tracks do have these types of rules I've never had a problem in getting as much track time as I can handle.
