I was hit by a palm tree today...
It was nice weather outside so I went to the beach. On my way back, I was stopped at a light in the front of the line. The light turned green so I went. Right after passing the intersection, a big ass dog (rott) that was leashed to a 10 foot palm tree yanked on his leash hard enough to rip the palm tree out of the ground by it's roots. As I saw this I stopped and the dog ran past my car with the palm tree still attached to the leash. The palm tree barely brushed my car leaving some not so noticable scratches on my right fender. They'll probably come out with a good waxing, but that was the first time I've been hit by an inanimate object.
Talk about my bad luck. Thankfully it didn't do any real damage.

Sorry about the scratches. All of my scratches were done by me, and I regret every one. It would be $300 for repainting my scratched parts.
FWIW, I'd say all living palm trees are animate. This tree was VERY animate.
