Wink I miss my 2k3 s2k

Heres my old girl

I sold her mid summer of 2008 . I moved to MN from TX and wanted to get a STI for its AWD in the winter. I did drive the s2k for one winter up here and with winter tires it did ok. There where a few scary times but nothing that I could not handle.

Recently i've been missing my s2k..... A LOT. Ive test drove a few recently and I feel right back at home in them. I also fit in them much better as I have Lost 70lbs since I owned my ap1. My STI is a nice car and all but it does not have the soul/feel/spirit like the s2k.

Ive been looking at getting a ap2 this time around. Either a 06 or a 07 to get the VSA which would probably help in the winter.

So should I do the crazy thing and sell the STI come march 2010 and hunt down a mint condition ap2 or stay with the STI???

Just remember the power you'll lose going from an STi to an S2000. I did it, and I didn't mind it that much but you never know.

Ok here is a few thoughts. For one the STI insurance is awful high which is why I got rid of mine. You could get the S2k you want and then get a beater Subaru for when it is really bad weather.
I personally would get another Ap1 . You got to luv that 9000 rpm!

Last winter we had an 05 Legacy GT with all season tires and a 05 BMW 325i with DSC (VSA) and winter tires. The LGT could get going quicker from a stop but the BMW was easier to keep on the road in a straight line with winter tires and stability control. If you're going to get an 06+ and run winter tires, I wouldn't worry about driving it in the winter.

Posts like this one make me glad I got an S2k instead of an STi. Get the S2k if it's what you want and you aren't taking a big hit on the STi. If you sold/bought in the middle of winter you'll probably get the best price on both cars.

Funny, I was considering the exact opposite move next year. Although i may just keep the S as well.

Just curious, what is it about the STi that you don't like?

I know the s2k has less power but its not all about HP for me.

My insurance was actually cheaper on the STI vs. my old ap1 by a few hundred a year. I have no idea why. Maybe things have changed. Guess A quick call to progressive is in order.

Im not upside down in the STI so I would not be in the hole if I sold it. Bad thing is that the STI has took about a 8k hit in price after a year and 1/2 or so.

The STI is a good car and all but its just not a s2k. Theres something about the s2k that the subbie just does not have. I really cant put my finger on it.
